Botanical Monograph & Clinical Profile

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) has been a cornerstone of traditional Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. Renowned for its warm, pungent, and stimulating properties, it plays a critical role in promoting optimal digestion, reducing systemic inflammation, and supporting immune health. In Ayurveda, fresh ginger (Ardraka) and dry ginger (Shunti) possess slightly different properties. Fresh ginger is particularly beneficial for clearing congestion and stimulating appetite, while dry ginger is warmer, lighter, and exceptional for balancing Kapha and alleviating deep-seated Vata imbalance without excessively aggravating Pitta when used appropriately.
